sun, rain, sun, rain, sleet, snow?! one can only blame global warming....
nevertheless, spring is here. something about this time of year (aside from these crazy snow showers) always makes me DIY antsy. sorta like spring cleaning, only for art majors.
last saturday i woke up bright and early (aka 11:00) and went thrift shopping with arissa and amy. i'm on the constant lookout for awesome/cheap apartment stuff for next year... this year my roommates furnished the apartment completely. they've been living together for 4 years and have accumulated pretty much everything you'd ever need for collegiate life. and even stuff you wouldn't need, like a juicer. and a shamwow. yeesh.
next year, however, i won't be as well supplied. keitha has a loveseat. i have a coffee table and a tv stand. rachel has a couch? really, we have quite the hodgepodge collection. so we're all on the lookout. plus i have life in the real world after that... which needs furnishing as well.
well, i didn't find anything major, like an awesome modular bookshelf for under $20 (which is my ultimate goal... one that will probably never be reached.) i did buy a lovely white flower-shaped porcelain dish for 40 cents. i promise it's not a crazy daisy or anything cheesy that automatically comes to mind. i'll have to ask my mother, but i believe it's from the 60s. my camera battery died so i haven't gotten a photo of it yet, but i've found a very similar bowl via google... it doesn't look like it's anything expensive but i love it nonetheless.
i also found this great little white vase for 30 cents. i filled it with a dollar stem of flowers from kroger... not bad for $1.37:
(oh yeah, and that's mackie, my lovely imac. soooooo beautiful.) i've decided the vase alone is reason enough to have fresh flowers on a weekly basis. and for $1.00, why not?! i've had these pink ones on my desk for over a week now and, though a bit wilty, they're still beautiful and smell like summer. totally worth it.
